Lend a Hand -- Together We Can Make a Difference
Volunteer opportunities abound in the Department of Parks and Recreation. You can volunteer to assist at fun special events like Family Skate Night and Arlington Palooza, help individuals with disabilities learn to swim, help to remove invasive plants from our parks, and much more.
Adapted Aquatics is a learn-to-swim program for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteers will receive training to work one-on-one with participants in the water to strengthen and develop basic swim skills. Volunteers should be strong swimmers, be comfortable in the water and have a passion for working with others.
Remove Invasive Plants
Join your neighbors one day every month as they restore the area's natural plant communities. Help remove plants like English ivy and bush honeysuckle which threaten the health of Arlington's parks and natural areas.
