Novice/Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Pick-Up Soccer
Adult Pick-Up Soccer
Arlington County offers Coed Pick-Up soccer programs for adult players. Four groups are offered for the spring, summer, fall, and winter: Tuesdays for non-competitive, small-sided play for beginners, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for intermediate players, and Thursdays for advanced players. We have added an Advanced Beginner group on Thursdays, for the winter. The Pick-Up program offers informal play organized by participants at the field – no set teams, scores, or standings. It is for both men and women – from total novices or people who are trying to learn (or re-learn) the game to experienced players. Shin guards are required for all players; cleats are recommended. There are no referees, so good sportsmanship is a high priority. You must register in advance to participate in these pick-up soccer programs. See below for more information.
Programs: Tuesday Beginners, Tuesday Intermediate, Wednesday Intermediate, Thursday Advanced Beginner (between Beginner and Intermediate in skill) , and Thursday Advanced.
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 pm (Tue Beginner); 8:30 – 10:00 pm (Tue Intermediate); 8:15 – 9:45 pm for Wednesday Intermediate; 8:45 – 9:15 pm for Thursday Advanced; 7:00 – 8:30 pm (Advanced Beginner on Thursdays).
Location: Tuesday Beginners, Tuesday Intermediate, and Advanced Beginners play at Long Bridge Park; Wednesday Intermediate plays at Greenbrier Park (Yorktown H.S) and other high schools; Thursday Advanced plays at Washington-Lee H.S. and other high schools.
Cost: The Winter fee is $65 (Arlington residents) or $95 (non-residents). Fee reductions are available for Arlington residents, based on income. No refunds will be given for field closures or any other cancellation.
Eligibility: Totally novice beginners are welcome in the Tuesday Beginner program – even if you have never kicked a soccer ball in your life. Players registering for Advanced should be skilled, experienced players.
