On Saturday, February 20, the County Manager presented the FY 2022 Proposed Operating Budget and related Fee Resolutions, including DPR’s, to the County Board. While the proposed budget includes no change to the current tax rate, it does include $16 million in proposed reductions to help close the funding gap in FY 2022. Thankfully no permanent filled positions in the County were affected. The proposed budget continues many of the holds put in place during the pandemic, including delayed hiring and facility re–openings. Learn more here.
Over the next two months, the County Board will hold work sessions with departments and offer opportunities for public comment. The County Board may make changes to the proposed budget during this time. DPR’s work session is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. This work session will be recorded and you can find it at this site. The County Board will then adopt the budget at their April board meeting, which is effective the beginning of the next fiscal year, July 1, 2021.

The County Manager is also in the process of developing the next Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for FY 2022 and beyond. It will be proposed in May 2021 and adopted in July 2021. Dates for a community forum and opportunity to share feedback on the CIP online are still to be determined.
