Refunds
Q: Will I receive a full refund for all canceled camps?
A: If you registered in Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation camps you will receive a full refund. If you signed up for a camp with one of our contractors, please contact the contractor directly regarding their refund policy.
Q: How do I know if I registered for an Arlington County Parks and Recreation camp or a contracted camp?
A: Check in the 2020 Guide to Summer Camps in Arlington County. All Arlington County Parks and Recreation camps are denoted with an Arlington County icon. (You can also find the contractor website in their listing.)
Q: When will I receive my refund from a canceled Arlington Parks and Recreation camp?
A: Refunds will be issued in the form of a household credit. Please allow up to four weeks for the credit to be processed to your account. We encourage you to keep this credit on your household account to apply toward a future program or service. After the refund has been applied to your account, you can follow-up with our office to request a monetary refund be processed back to your original form of payment instead of keeping the household credit. We appreciate your patience as we process the high volume of refunds. If you have further questions regarding this cancellation, please contact registration@arlingtonva.us.
Q: When will I receive my refund from a contractor camp?
A: Check with your contractor directly to determine their refund policy.
Q: I’ve contacted the contractor who was offering my camp and haven’t gotten a response. What do I do?
A: Please email us at camps@arlingtonva.us and we will work with you to get a response from the contractor. Be sure to include the contractor’s name, the camp name/session number, and the names of each child in the camp.
Q: The contractor who was offering my camp says they won’t offer me a full refund. What do I do?
A: If you were registered for a camp offered by a contractor, your contractor has a refund policy that was included when you registered for this program. By now you should have heard from your camp contractor. They can answer any questions you have regarding their refund policy. If you haven’t heard from them or have further questions regarding contracted camps, please contact camps@arlingtonva.us.
Q: If I still have questions, who can I contact for more information?
A: Please contact our registration office at 703-228-4747, weekdays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or you can email us at camps@arlingtonva.us.
Camps Canceled
Q: Will any of the camps promoted in the 2020 Guide to Summer Camps in Arlington County be available this summer?
A: No. All camps promoted in the 2020 Guide to Summer Camps in Arlington County have been canceled.
Q: What factors influenced your decision to cancel camps?
A: Our decision to cancel summer camps was primarily based on guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Camp Association (ACA) as well as Virginia’s guidelines for summer camps. Given the number of unknown variables still present, the risks of bringing our community together, in-person, for a traditional camp season are far too great.
Q: Why is my outdoor camp canceled?
A: Outdoor camps need to comply with the same health and safety guidelines as indoor camps, and we cannot ensure we can meet those guidelines at this time.
Q: My child was signed up to be a volunteer this summer. With camps canceled, are there any other volunteer opportunities in Arlington?
A: While we are not accepting summer camp volunteers this year, please check Volunteer Arlington for other options.
