Arlington County and APS Parks, Fields and Playgrounds are Closed
In effort to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and encourage social distancing, effectively immediately, all Arlington County/Arlington Public Schools (APS) parks, playgrounds, fields, restrooms, tracks, dog parks and athletic courts are CLOSED until further notice.
Signs will be posted at all affected locations. Park visitors are asked to adhere to all closure notices and current social distancing recommendations.
The County’s nearly 49 miles of paved multi-use trails and additional hiking trails, remain open, with strict social distancing. If you choose to go for a walk, or exercise outside, please maintain a distance of six feet from people who are not a part of your household. Crossing through parks to get to a trail or non-park destination is allowed.
The County’s community gardens remain open, with strict social distancing.
All public and private gatherings of more than 10 people are banned. If you see large groups gathering in parks, please contact the Department of Parks and Recreation Roving Monitor at 571-238-0265 from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.
As previously announced, all Parks and Recreation programs, centers, services and activities remain closed or canceled.

Arlington County is committed to the health and safety of our community and our employees and strongly urges everyone to change their daily behavior to reduce risk from COVID-19, particularly to protect our most vulnerable populations. Public health officials have noted evidence of community transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus in parts of Northern Virginia, and each individual plays a critical part of slowing the spread of the virus:
- Wash your hands frequently
- Stay home when you are sick
- Avoid close contact with those are sick
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow and wash your hands afterwards
- Avoid crowded areas and non‐essential travel if you are over age 65 or have a chronic medical condition
- Follow local government social distancing guidance.
We are not accepting any facility reservations until further notice due to Covid-19. This includes any facility requests for athletic fields, courts, park shelters, trail events, community center rooms, birthday parties and TEAM Amusement Rentals.
Arlington County will issue refunds for its fee-based programs impacted by cancellations in the form of a household credit. Please allow up to four weeks for the credit to be processed to your account.
Partner leagues will manage refunds through their own methods. Please contact your specific league for more information.
