In an effort to provide an inclusive community experience, officials in Arlington County approved a one million dollar contract to renovate a heavily used park.
The playground is the first in the county to incorporate universal designs.
“The goal was to create a site where kids of all abilities can play side by side,” said Joshua Serck, Arlington County’s Parks and Rec Landscape Architect. “There’s no ramps, and no steps so that way people of all abilities can get to the different elements in a safe and easy way,” he added.
