Bluemont Park Field Renovations and Trail Connection Complete; Field Reopened
- Project scope included full replacement of athletic field #3 and installation of a ‘Safe Routes to School’ trail connector, linking the Four Mile Run Trail to N. Manchester St. and Ashlawn School
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held July 8
Finished on time and on budget, the Bluemont Park Field Renovations and Trail Connection project wrapped up on Friday, June 30 when the construction fencing was removed and the field officially reopened. In addition to the replacement of field #3 and the trail connection, the project scope also included new sod, new irrigation, site circulation, fencing, backstops, bleachers, site furnishings, signage, ADA accessibility improvements, reforestation area, and drainage. The project began construction in the fourth quarter of 2016 and was funded through the Parks Maintenance Capital program. The celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 11 a.m. The ribbon cutting will include the Presentation of the Colors by the Arlington County Joint Honor Guard and the singing of the National Anthem as well as remarks by the Arlington County Board and the community.
