Community members from Residences at Station Square dropped off 90 non-perishable goods during Arlington’s 46th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 18 at Washington-Liberty High School (1301 N. Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22201)! This was the largest single donation of the night.
In total, 186 items were donated by event attendees. These items will be used for supplemental groceries to our Arlington neighbors in need. For the past 25 years, AFAC’s mission has been obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs. In memory of Dr. King’s call to service and social justice, Arlington County invited event attendees to donate non-perishable food items for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). To collect as many donations as possible, community groups and individuals were asked to organize collections to deliver to the event and help “fill the van” that was on site at the event.
